Quotes[]

  • [Al, wearing his bowling shirt, and looking disheveled, staggers into the Bundy residence and quickly shuts the door ]
  • Peggy: Al, what are you doing home so early?!
  • Al: Peg, you should have seen it! There was a riot at the alley! [walks over to the kitchen table] Your friends showed up, stinking of chocolates and cigarettes. They started yelling "Take me! I'm Trash!". Nobody did, but then the riots started. It was ugly, Peg. Men screaming, running for the exits. I didn't quite understand what they were saying, but I think something big is happening in 36 hours! Do we have any canned goods, Peg? This could be it!

  • Bud: Remember how you always say it's important to do nice things for other people?
  • Al: I never say that, son.
  • Bud: Then it must have been you, Mom.
  • Peggy: No, I don't think it was me.
  • Bud: Mmm, must have been Cosby then.

  • Peg: [sits on the couch with Bud and Tiffany] So, uh, Tiffany, tell us a little something about yourself
  • Al: What Peg means is where are you from? What are your plans? When did you stop wearing a bra? [grinning]
  • Tiffany: Well I'm from San Francisco and I'm on my way to New York to go to art school. And I don't like bras. They're too constricting, don't you think?
  • Peggy: Hahaha, [coldly] get out!
  • Al: [stands up and holds Peg back] Haha, oh, uh, no, haha. Now Peg, she's got no place to go. Bud, get some sheets and a blanket for the couch, so your mother will be comfortable. [Peg elbows Al's rib] Hahaha, [sits next to Tiffany] no, no, I meant so Tiffany can be comfortable. It's so easy to get you to confused, hehe. [bites lip]

Notes[]

Title[]

  • The title of the episode is a reference to the 1956 doo-wop song, "Earth Angel", originally performed by the Penguins.

Trivia[]

  • Marcy mentions that her and Steve have sex every 36 hours. She has previously mentioned this in "Thinnergy".
  • Larry, one of Al's friends who works in the backyard is played by Gene Le Bell, a martial artist, actor and stunt performer. He would appear on MWC several more times throughout its run in both acting and non-speaking stunt roles.
  • Out of the friends that visit Al in this episode, this is the only appearance of Larry and Dennis, while Norris and Barney appeared in previous episodes and continued to appear on the show into its later seasons.
  • Al stated that Thursday night is his bowling night. This is mentioned again later in Season 8's "NO MA'AM" after The Masculine Feminist turned Thursday nights, which was normally his night, into Ladies' Nights and again in Season 9 "The Naked and the Dead, but Mostly the Naked", when Al points out that NO MA'AM bowls on Thursday nights because it is usually "A-Cup Night" at The Jiggly Room.

Cultural References[]

  • When Bud talks to his parents about helping other people, he mentions that he likely heard it from "Cosby", which is likely a reference to actor and comedian Bill Cosby. At the time this episode aired, Cosby was the star of the sitcom, The Cosby Show.
  • When Steve sits down with Al and notices the art books on the coffee table, he says "Modigliani, Kandinsky, Chagall", referring to:
    • Amedeo Modigliani - Italian painter and sculptor, known for modernist style portraits and nudes characterized by elongated necks and facial proportions
    • Wassily Kandinsky - Russian painter and art theorist, generally credited as the pioneer of abstract art
    • Marc Chagall - Russian-French artist, known for vibrant colors in his work in a wide range of format including painting, tapestry and stained glass.
  • Tiffany tells Steve that American Impressionism won her heart, referring to the art style characterized by loose brushwork and vivid colors that usually reflected nature and small town life in America, in contrast to the emerging technological advancements and growing urban landscapes during the 19th and early 20th century.
  • After Tiffany mentioned her love for American Impressionism, Steve asks what she thought of Hassam, referring to Childe Hassam, an American artist who is one of the more well known American Impressionism artist. His work typically depicted urban and coastal scenes.
    • Tiffany then mentions Cassat, causing Steve to scream in ecstasy. This is in reference to Mary Cassatt an American artist also known for her involvement in American Impressionism along with Hassam. Her work typically depicted the private lives of women as well as mothers bonding with their children.
  • As Al comes down the stairs in the morning, he says "Well, Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho, I'm off to work", referencing lyrics from the song, "Heigh-Ho" from the Disney animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
  • Marcy tells Peggy that she fantasizes putting Tiffany's hair through a Veg-O-Matic, one of the first food processing appliances used to cut and chop vegetables.
