Bad To The Bone is a 1982 blues rock song performed by George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

It is heard in various episode of Married... with Children, often serving as Al Bundy's anthem when he is preparing to do something important.

Usage on MWC[]

In "Hot off the Grill", the song is heard when Al gears up and prepares for the family's labor day barbeque.

In "A Man's Castle", after Al gave Peggy Bundy a final warning to change the bathroom back to its normal appearance, she ignores him and brings over her interior decoration class over to study the changes that she made. Knowing he has to resort to something drastic, the song begins to play as Al opens up a bag of Mexican fast food and pulls out a bottle of hot sauce. He covers all of the fast food in the sauce and quickly wolfs it down while struggling, until he reaches a point when he finally looks up and shows his infamous smile. The fast food and hot sauce together drive Al upstairs, and causes the song to stop, as Peg and her interior decorating class flee in terror from the house moments later. The song resumes at the end as the caption "And the very next day, Al got his bathroom back" shows up onscreen.

In "My Dinner with Anthrax", Al and Peggy arrive in Florida for their 20th wedding anniversary after the kids sent them their, (unaware that they are actually at a timeshare and the kids sent them out so they could have the house for themselves and the band Anthrax). After Peggy insist that they get down to business and have sex, Al tells her he needs to prepare. The song begins to play as Al walks to a nearby desk with a briefcase. Upon opening it, he pulls out several issues of Big 'Uns magazine and begins looking them over, until he finally stands up and says "Let's jam!".

In *"England Show (Part 3)" after being forced to fight in a joust against Igor, as Al gets ready for the fight, the song plays as the camera shows him wearing his old Polk High Panthers football gear. The song stops as the camera comes up to Al's face and he says, "Let's joust!".

In "A Little Off the Top" after Al gets an accidental circumcision and is unable to do anything that would arouse him, he locks himself the garage to avoid Peg. As Peggy tells Marcy D'Arcy that she is concerned about Al, the song plays as Al tears down the door leading to the garage and points Peggy upstairs, indicating that his stitches are healed and he is ready for sex, and quickly follows her upstairs. After a moment, the house is shown violently shaking. After stopping, as the song continues on, Al walks downstairs and takes a seat on the couch. The song stops as Al reveals that he was able to last longer and not feel a thing during sex

Trivia[]

  • Originally released in 1982, it didn't become widely known or popular until years later, when it was licensed to appear in movies, commercials and television shows, such as Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Christine and Problem Child.

Lyrics[]

On the day I was born
The nurses all gathered 'round
And they gazed in wide wonder
At the joy they had found

The head nurse spoke up
Said "leave this one alone"
She could tell right away
That I was bad to the bone

Bad to the bone
Bad to the bone
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
Bad to the bone

I broke a thousand hearts
Before I met you
I'll break a thousand more, baby
Before I am through

I wanna be yours, pretty baby
Yours and yours alone
I'm here to tell ya honey
That I'm bad to the bone

Bad to the bone
Bad to the bone
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad

Bad to the bone
