Buck Has a Belly Ache was the sixth episode of Married... with Children's, sixth season and also the 110th overall episode of the series. Directed by Gerry Cohen, and written by Ellen L. Fogle, the episode originally aired on the FOX network, premiering on October 13, 1991.
Synopsis[]
Peg moves back in with her Wanker family after Al, Kelly and Bud ignore her because they are looking after Buck, who has lost his appetite. Jefferson has sympathy pregnancy and Marcy enjoys it.
Storyline[]
While Jefferson suffers through sympathetic psychosomatic "pregnancy" pains, Peggy is upset that Al is immune to them. Even worse, Buck loses his appetite and becomes listless and gets all the attention that should have been lavished upon the expectant Peg. Upset of the lack of attention she's receiving from the others, she departs for Wanker County to visit her weird relatives for a week. After a change of heart, she returns home, but, to her chagrin, no one even noticed she had even left!

- Al: MY BABY?!... [gets up and kneels next to the kids while stroking Buck's back and being concerned] What's wrong with my hairy man?
- Peggy: We've been married for 20 years and that's just starting to bother you now?
- Al: [annoyed] I was talking about the dog, Brunhilda.
- [Al and the kids are kneeling next to Buck, still trying to comfort him after buy new dog food. At the kitchen table, Peg and the D'Arcys having been bonding over their shared emotional and pregnancy pains]

- Al: [looking at Buck] What, boy?
- Peg: It's me, you milk dud! Well, look, I wanna know right this minute why your feet aren't swollen and you never complain about your breasts?!

- Joey Lauren Adams who plays Cousin Effie was previously on MWC / Top of the Heap as Mona Mullins.
- This is the last episode to show Peggy pregnant.
- Shortly after this episode had filmed, Katey Sagal, who was pregnant in real life, would unfortunately miscarry. Due to this, Sagal would be absent from the next four episodes as she recuperated, with Peggy's absence explained as her being upstairs recovering from a food coma, shopping, or going out of town to attend Mardi Gras.
Cultural References[]
- Kelly asks Peggy where in the book "Dr. Spock says that pregnant women can't feed anyone named Bud or Kelly". This is likely a reference to Dr. Benjamin Spock, a pediatrician who wrote several books on baby and child care.
- After arriving home, Al sarcastically addresses his family as "Harriet, Ricky, David", in reference to the television series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.
