Quotes[]

  • Al: Uh, Bud, what is this? [picks up a new video game tucked in the cushion] It looks like a new video game I'm sitting on?
  • Bud: Well, it wasn't as much as Mom's coat!
  • Peg: [walks over and sits next to Al] Was so!
  • Bud: Oh yeah?! What about the watch?!
  • Peg: Well, what about the attitude, "Dad will just have to sell more shoes?"
  • [after a moment of staring at Bud, Al slowly puts his arms around Bud and Peg, as they both lower their heads]
  • Al: Ya' know, when the truck was taking me to the lobster warehouse, I said... I said to Sven, "You think its all worth it, buddy?" and Sven said, [in a fake Swedish accent] "Vhen its fer the family, its alvays vorth it!". He also said that a lobster couldn't pinch through an athletic supporter... Sven was 0 for 2, today!

  • [Al is upset that no one in the family ordered the Yodeling Andy records and yet, he is stuck with the bill]
  • Al: [to Peg] So you didn't order this? Now how am I going to come up with $111?! How am I going to pay $111? [sits next to her]
  • Peg: Well, if you didn't have that grilled cheese sandwich, you could have put it on your credit card.
  • Al: And if your father didn't lace that lemonade with vermouth, I'd be single.

  • [Al and Peg are sitting in a jacuzzi in their hotel suite, smoking a cigar and cigarette, as two bell boys pour them drinks]
  • Al: Ya' know, I know someone must have said it before, Peg, but its good to be rich! Changes your whole outlook on things. I mean, here we are in the same room, and not once have I thought about sitting in the car, closing the garage door and letting the engine purr me to sleep.
  • Peg: I know, sweetie! Many is the time I've thought of you doing that too! [they both laugh and then give each other an air kiss]
  • Al: Well, its all behind us, now!

Notes[]

Title[]

  • The episode title refers to a slogan used by credit card company, Mastercard during the mid 1980s.[1][2]

Trivia[]

  • Kelly does not appear in this episode.
    • Her absence is first explained by Bud, who said that she was out on a date with two guys when Al asks where she is. Later, Peggy mentioned that she is staying with Grandma Wanker.
  • Due to the low budget of the early seasons, all the big items that were bought with Buck's credit card came from the cast's and crew's homes.[3]
  • The scene with Bud laughing about Kelly missing out on the new stuff they bought while he is on the exercise machine would be used in the opening credits for Seasons 1 and 2 of the U.S. syndicated version.
  • Peg uses Pig Latin to refer to Bud as "Ud-Bay" when she and Al talk about going to a hotel. She previosly used Pig Latin to talk to her mother in "For Whom the Bell Tolls".

Cultural References[]

  • The new video game Peggy bought Bud is Space Armada, a Space Invaders clone developed by APh Technological Consulting and released in 1981 for the Intellivision.
  • Bud mentions American musicians Trini Lopez and Burl Ives after denying that he bought the Yodeling Andy albums.
  • Marcy mentions that she got a Facts of Life talking scale, referring to the 1980s sitcom.
  • Al tells one of the bellboys that he has his fingers in Al's vichyssoise.
    • Vichyssoise is a thick French soup made with leeks, onions, potatoes, cream, and chicken stock and typically served cold.

Music[]

  • The song that is playing when Al and Peggy dance and later, when they are in the hotel suite is Yodeling Andy.

Locations[]

Sets[]

  • Bundy Living Room/Kitchen
  • Hotel suite

Goofs[]

  • When Bud is using the exercise machine, he is wearing headphones on his ears. In the next scene, the headphones are around his neck.
